Margaret Lilley

Margaret has a deep belief in the healing power of nature, creative activities, mindfulness, meditation and fun! A 20 year background in nursing during which time she lived extensively overseas, led her to an appreciation of both western and eastern medicine, and a true love of experiential travel. Bringing like minded people together in beautiful locations, creating life changing memorable experiences is a dream role for Margaret as your retreat coordinator and 'go to person'. She is a qualified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher with Mindfulness Now, Wellbeing Coach with Raw Horizon Academy – Wellbeing Coach Training. Accredited by The Association for Coaching & NHS Personalised Care Institute, and a Reiki Practitioner and looks forward to expanding and integrating these roles within Peace Lily Retreats.

'The practice of Mindfulness can be integrated into every part of our daily lives. The simplicity of living in the present moment is a useful tool to allow a more calm, peaceful approach to life and clearer decision making, easing the anxieties of modern busy lives whilst improving overall mental health and reducing stress induced inflammatory ailments.' 

                                                         

Our Tutors

Susan McMillan

Susan is known for her use of mixed media and will demonstrate ways to encourage your artistic creativity. ‘The aim of this workshop is to immerse yourself in creating artwork for the fun of it, we will use a variety of tools to explore mark making (not all conventional!). We will use nature to provide us with inspiration and materials to paint with and to sketch the natural world.' Susan's workshop 'Nature's Creativity is suitable for beginners and more experienced artists who wish to 'loosen up' their drawing and painting skills by learning many of Susan's abstract techniques. Media used during the classes include inks, fluid acrylics, pastels, chalk and charcoal. Susan McMillan is based in South Lanarkshire where her work is on sale and she holds regular workshops and exhibitions.

 

 

John Threlfall

John is an accomplished, award winning Wildlife, Landscape and Portrait Artist based in Deeside, Scotland whose particular interest is in the use of Mindfulness as a tool to develop and improve drawing and observational skills. His unique course The Mindfulness of Drawing/The Art of Seeing is designed for the beginner and the more skilled artist. John's broad knowledge of birds and wildlife has been a huge hit with retreat goers. Binoculars and telescope always at the ready during walks.
