About the Retreat

Arrive on Saturday afternoon to Fenham Farm, enjoy a light lunch followed by a short Introduction to Mindfulness session led by Margaret Lilley followed by a short mindful walk. Enjoy your evening meal in the company of your fellow guests.
On Sunday morning there will be an optional yoga / meditation session followed by light breakfast. You will join award winning wildlife, portrait and landscape artist John Threlfall for the next 2 hours whilst he introduces you to The Mindfulness of Drawing focusing on 'the joy and insight of the process of making marks on the page rather than a preoccupation with the product.' Light lunch to follow and then John will introduce you to The Art of Seeing leading to an 'understanding of the difference between merely 'looking at' something and seeing it.' Dinner will be followed by a free evening.  
On Monday following optional yoga / meditation session and breakfast you will continue your drawing sessions with John, following lunch we hope to be able to visit Holy Island a short drive from Fenham Farm to do some plein air drawing - weather and tide times permitting! Return for dinner and free evening.
On Tuesday following optional yoga / meditation session, breakfast and art workshop you will have a free afternoon to explore the beautiful surrounding area of Northumberland or enjoy some well earned rest. There will be an optional afternoon 'Puffin Cruise' to The Farne Islands including return transport at an additional cost.
Depart Wednesday morning following breakfast. You will be given a packed lunch for your journey.

There will be ample free time for you to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline of Beal.

You may wish to extend your stay for a further 1 or 2 nights including light breakfast which can be booked separately. There is also an option to extend your art journey by booking John Threlfall's Portrait Workshop which includes light lunch on Wednesday 14th June.

Non-participating partners are welcome to stay in a shared room with you and join in at meal times etc. There are a number of local places of historical interest, walking and cycling routes and golf courses etc nearby or within a short drive.

Margaret Lilley

Margaret has a deep belief in the healing power of nature, creative activities, mindfulness, meditation and fun! A 20 year background in nursing during which time she lived extensively overseas, led her to an appreciation of both western and eastern medicine, and a true love of experiential travel. Bringing like minded people together in beautiful locations, creating life changing memorable experiences is a dream role for Margaret as your retreat coordinator and 'go to person'. She is a fully qualified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher with Mindfulness Now and a Reiki Practitioner and looks forward to expanding and integrating these roles within Peace Lily Retreats.

John Threlfall

John is an accomplished, award winning Wildlife, Landscape and Portrait Artist based in Deeside, Scotland whose particular interest is in the use of Mindfulness as a tool to develop and improve drawing and observational skills. His unique course The Mindfulness of Drawing/The Art of Seeing is designed for the beginner and the more skilled artist. John's broad knowledge of birds and wildlife has been a huge hit with retreat goers. Binoculars and telescope always at the ready during walks.

 

 

The Food

Caterer Anna Mockford from Mockford & Bonetti has been extremely popular amongst our retreat goers and travels all the way from the Isle of Mull! Let Anna nourish your body with delicious freshly cooked meals, bread and cakes baked daily whilst you focus on you and your retreat experience.

All meals are plant based using the freshest, locally sourced produce with fresh meat and seafood options. Teas, coffees and fresh fruit are always available. All food preferences catered for and should be advised at time of booking.
